In the same way that Americans are renowned for having a hot-dog at the Baseball, and Canadians love there Beaver Tails on the Rideau Canal in winter,  Australians love to have a traditional Australian Meat Pie to satisfy there intra-game hunger (usually with a liberal dash of tomato sauce). Some food companies base there product marketing around this tradition. (eg Four'n'Twenty).   And what wash's down a hot meat pie at the footy? nothing other than a ice cold beer of course!
