The Swans Ryan 'Razor' Gregory is one of 10 players nominated for the 2008 Ontario Australian Football League (OAFL) Rookie of the year award, to be awarded at this years OAFL Awards night.
One rookie from each OAFL team has been nominated with each club to vote on the winner in the comming weeks. A Rookie player is someone who has never played competition AFL football before and is competeing in the OAFL for the first time. Razor In Action Coach Richard Keane has been over the moon with Razors performances this year "In his first season playing AFL Ryan has impressed everyone with his athletic ability."The Swans could quite easily have 10+ Rookie of the year nominations considering most of the team are first year players, however, Razor's standout perfomances this year in the 'Ruck' (one of the hardest positions on the feild!) and the knowledge that he has defeated every opposing Ruck man he has faced this year convincingly is a spectacular effort and worthy of nomination, if not the award itself. "A key position player for the Swans, his capacity for hard work around the ground, intelligent ruck tap work in the centre as well as stamina to run out a whole game have been a huge advantage and addition to the Swans" Rich noted. The Swans are looking forward to their final game of the season in Guelph on September 6th and are sure Razor will play another important role for the Swans on the day. |
