Hamilton withstood two late surges by the Swans on Saturday to eventually take the points in a game played in extremely hot conditions.  The Swans managed to put 4 good quarters of football together but could not get their nose in front of a determined Hamilton at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

The Wildcats started well, kicking the opening 2 goals before the Swans settled and put one on the board going into the first break only 10 points down.  The Swans lost Daniel Desmarais early in the first to injury, leaving the back line without one of its most talented defenders.

The second quarter had both teams kicking goal for goal. Rich Keane, along with Chris Peek and Yaser Abou Elenein, started to win the ball out of the middle and rebound off half back from Graeme Millen and Steve Spurrell ensured Hamilton was not able to extend the lead too much. Once again the Swans managed a couple of late ones by Corey Bowen to close the gap at half time to 16 points.

A much needed break seperated the two halves, as both teams sought some shade from the 30+ degree heat.  The 3rd quarter would become a quarter to forget for the Swans, they lost Simon to concussion early in the term followed by their most experienced forward Corey Bowen who went down after a big tackle deep in the forward pocket.

Unfortunately for Corey and the Swans; he suffered a broken hip in the tackle and will miss the rest of the year.  The Swans managed to stay in touch in the third and went into the final term 20 points down.  More hard work from the Half Backs and some great goals from Darren Roffey and Chris Peek on the run in the final term ensured the Swans stayed in touch with Hamilton but they were unable to close the gap and eventually went down in their finest performance on the feild to date.

The Swans Organization, Players and Supporters would like to wish Corey a speedy recovery from his injury.

Next week, the Swans will host the Central Blues. Those following the team last season will recall a memorable victory of the Blues on Canada Day in 2007.  While the contest is sure to be a lot harder this time round, the Swans are starting to look the goods and hope to bring home their first win for 2008 against a greatly improved Blues side.

Come along and support the boys as well as getting a sneak peak at Canada's newest team the Quebec Saints as they take on the Central Blues reserves in an exhibition game immediately following the Swans Blues Clash.
