The victory stopped a run of two consecutive Conacher Cups for the mighty Eagles team. |

On a fairly warm day the Swans welcomed the Broadview Hawks to Ottawa hoping to avoid a repeat of the last time they met. A bumper crowd had arrived to watch the game as part of the Forces Appreciation Day heavily promoted by the Ottawa Swans executive. In what is becoming a regular occurrence in our initial season the Ottawa Swans lined up with a limited number of players from the squad in attendance but none lacked the intensity or spirit expected of a Swans player. |

It was the best of days; it was the worst of days. The 9th of August 2008 will go down in the team annals not as a game that the Swans won, but rather as the day they came of age as a playing unit. The final result may show a 6 goal loss to the Toronto Eagles, but it was a game in which 18 players displayed an intensity and effort over four full quarters. |

After a tough beat by the Hawks the following week the Swans returned home aiming to make amends by beating the Toronto Dingos. Despite balmy conditions and a reasonable crowd turn out on the day the Swans were slow out of the blocks and never really recovered against a team that ran hard all day. |
